Geranium) essential oil comes from the island, and former french colony, of La Réunion in the Indian Ocean. The island was formerly known as Île de Bourbon, which is where the name comes from. Geranium essential oil is produced from the ‘Rose’ cultivar. It has a pronounced green, leafy-rose scent. Often more lemony and rosy than other varieties of Geranium oil, with a sweet, herbaceous note. Although it has the same therapeutic properties as other types of Geranium oil, Geranium (Bourbon) is preferred by many aromatherapists because of it superior fragrance and because it blends so well with a vast array of other aromatherapy oils.
